As part of the Design Methodology course, our team set out to create an interactive, light-based product tailored for children aged 3 to 4. To ground our design in real behavior, we conducted user research directly in local schools, observing how children interacted with initial concepts to uncover what truly sparked their curiosity.

This research led to Blumen, a modular construction toy that allows kids to build custom scenarios using translucent blocks, trees, flowers, and castles connected through mechanical anchors. As children build, the translucent pieces absorb light from the base, changing color to dynamically shift the environment. Managed wirelessly via a Bluetooth "totem," individual panel lighting lets children effortlessly transform their play space into vibrant meadows, warm deserts, or deep blue oceans with minimal physical pieces.
